Indonesian Marine Corps conducts artillery and leadership drills with US partners during RIMPAC 2026

Indonesia’s Marine Corps held two separate training events in July 2026 as part of the multinational RIMPAC exercise. At the Cibenda training area in Sukabumi, West Java, marines from the Howitzer Battalion practiced firing 105 mm howitzers, aiming to improve accuracy, readiness and verify that the artillery systems remain operational.

In Hawaii, Indonesian marines attended a Non‑Commissioned Officer (NCO) leadership course at Marine Corps Base Hawaii under instruction from the United States Marine Corps. The program covered field leadership, tactics, personnel management and decision‑making, with participants from Malaysia, the Philippines, Mexico and Sri Lanka. Indonesian officials highlighted the value of the training for professionalising the force and strengthening interoperability with allied units.

Colonel (Mar) Rana Karyana and Lieutenant Colonel Huda Prawira, senior Indonesian marine officers, said the drills reinforce combat capability, safeguard equipment and support Indonesia’s national defence posture.
