Indonesian maritime tourism industry adopts new safety and risk standards

Four major Indonesian organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance safety standards and risk management within the national maritime tourism industry. The agreement was formalized during the INSA Yacht Festival 2026 in Benoa, Bali, on August 8, 2026.

The partnership involves the Indonesian National Shipowners' Association (INSA), PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI), PT Jasaraharja Putera, and PT Reasuransi Indonesia Utama (Indonesia Re). The initiative aims to create an integrated safety and risk management system, including the implementation of special yacht classification notations by BKI.

By improving safety and classification standards, the collaboration seeks to make operational risks more measurable, which is expected to optimize insurance protection and create more competitive premiums. Furthermore, these improved standards are intended to increase the confidence of financial institutions, thereby opening better access to financing for maritime tourism businesses and accelerating the industry's development.
