Indonesian media and government boost digital literacy and collaboration

Indonesian media organizations and government bodies are increasing collaboration to address digital challenges, including artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and cybersecurity.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) is partnering with the Bandung Legal Journalists (JHB) and the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) West Java to strengthen AI literacy and public awareness regarding digital crimes. Deputy Minister Nezar Patria noted that while connectivity is growing, the digital space faces rising threats from cybercrime and online fraud. The ministry aims to utilize its Human Resources Development Agency to provide upskilling and reskilling for digital talent.

In North Halmahera, the Association of Professional Journalists of Indonesia (AWPI) held discussions with local government and police officials. The meeting focused on fostering collaboration between the press, law enforcement, and local authorities to ensure balanced reporting, combat hoaxes, and support regional development. Officials emphasized the role of the press as a pillar of democracy and a watchdog for transparency and integrity in the digital era.
