Indonesian military recovers stolen Caracal rifle in Maybrat
Indonesian military joint forces, operating under the Badai Kasuari Operation, have recovered a Caracal long-barreled rifle and 17 rounds of ammunition in Maybrat, Southwest Papua. The weapon had previously been seized by the Free Papua Movement (OPM) during an attack on a military post in Sory Village.
The recovery took place near Ayata Cave and the Ayata BTS tower. The operation involved personnel from the Yonif 9 Marine Mobile Task Force, the 411/Pandawa Kostrad Task Force, and the 764/IB Regional Task Force.
Brigadier General Slamet Riadi, Commander of Rem 181/PVT, stated that the discovery followed information provided by OPM figures who surrendered to the Maybrat Kodim 1809. These individuals include Anton Fatem, Yesias Fatem, and Zakarias Fatem. While the Caracal rifle was recovered, a K3 Daewoo weapon stolen during a March 22 incident remains missing.
