Indonesian Military Reports Major Harvest of Sugarcane, Rice and Soybeans

General Agus Subiyanto, commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, briefed President Prabowo Subianto on the results of the TNI‑led food‑security program during the Panen Raya ceremony in Malang, East Java, on 17 July 2026.

The programme covered three key crops. The Air Force, in partnership with Gula Nusantara, supervised 236,048 ha of sugarcane with an estimated yield of 18.386 million tonnes, enough to produce 1.36 million tonnes of sugar—about 45 % of the 2026 national target. At Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base, 800.5 ha are ready for harvest, projected to deliver 72,045 tonnes.

The Navy assisted 2,432 ha of soybeans, producing 3,676 tonnes (0.35 % of the national goal). New Navy‑managed land of 3,110 ha is expected to add 5,287 tonnes.

The Army oversaw 479,659 ha of rice, contributing to a cumulative 6.26 million ha harvested from January to June 2026 and a total output of 19.2 million tonnes, fulfilling 55.24 % of the rice target. The commander highlighted the synergy among the armed forces, government agencies, state‑owned enterprises, the private sector and academia in strengthening Indonesia’s food self‑sufficiency.
