Indonesian military seizes weapons from Papua rebels in Intan Jaya
Indonesian military (TNI) troops from the Habema Operations Command seized weapons and supplies believed to belong to the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Movement (TPNPB-OPM) in the Intan Jaya District of Central Papua.
The operation took place in Gamagai Village, Ugimba Subdistrict, following a security patrol. Military officials reported that drone surveillance and auditory clues, such as barking dogs and flashlight beams near a river, led troops to a traditional Papuan house (honai) used as a temporary shelter. During the raid, OPM members fled into the forest toward Kulapa Village.
Seized items included a revolver, a homemade firearm, seven rounds of ammunition, a box of air-rifle ammunition, a bow with five arrows, two noken bags, a Morning Star flag, a flashlight, and nine batteries. Lt. Col. M. Wirya Arthadiguna stated that the operation was conducted with vigilance despite difficult terrain and extreme cold temperatures.
