Indonesian Minister directs KDKMP to prioritize local UMKM products

Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono has instructed the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) to prioritize local micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) products within their respective regions.

Currently, the development of KDKMP has reached approximately 23,000 cooperatives across various villages and sub-districts in Indonesia. Speaking at the Borobudur Indonesia Expo 2026 in Magelang, Juliantono expressed optimism that the construction of physical facilities, including warehouses and necessary equipment, will meet the presidential target of 30,000 units this year.

The program has entered its operational phase following the signing of a Presidential Regulation regarding KDKMP governance and operations. Recruited managers have undergone training to prepare for placement. The process currently involves verification, validation, and the preparation of handing over physical assets to villages. A key function of the KDKMP will be serving as a distribution channel for various subsidized goods directly to the community at the village level.
