Indonesian ministries discuss legal reforms for notaries and zakat management
The Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights is evaluating the effectiveness of notary supervision to ensure legal certainty and public protection. During a policy strategy discussion held by the Bali regional office, officials addressed challenges in implementing Ministerial Regulation Number 15 of 2020. Key issues identified include the distribution of authority, the proportionality of inspections, and delays in case handling.
Separately, the Ministry of Religious Affairs is advocating for the strengthening of human resources and legal status for zakat amil (zakat managers) as part of the revision to Law Number 23 of 2011 regarding Zakat Management. The ministry emphasizes the need for a clearer legal definition of amil to establish professional standards, employment systems, and legal protections for those working within BAZNAS and Zakat Management Institutions (LAZ).
