Indonesian ministries support MSMEs in West Sumatra
Indonesian government agencies are implementing initiatives to support micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) in West Sumatra, focusing on standardization, legality, and market expansion.
The Ministry of Trade held a technical guidance session in Padang for 211 participants to improve product quality and export readiness. The program provided training on product quality standards, export requirements, and the use of the LAMANSITU platform to access international market information. Experts also shared strategies regarding branding, marketing, and packaging design to help local products compete globally.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of MSMEs is working to simplify business legality and certification in the region. Through a festival in Bukittinggi, the ministry aims to help 1,000 micro-entrepreneurs access services such as Business Identification Numbers (NIB), Halal certification, Indonesian National Standards (SNI), and BPOM distribution permits. These efforts are intended to facilitate access to capital and broader markets for the region's significant MSME sector.
