Indonesian National Armed Forces to hold 81st anniversary in Cilangkap

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) will celebrate its 81st anniversary on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto is expected to attend the event, though his participation in preliminary rehearsals remains subject to his schedule.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto stated that the ceremony location was moved from the National Monument (Monas) Square to Cilangkap to focus on internal purposes. The celebration is intended to be a simple event featuring a presidential inspection parade rather than large-scale demonstrations or public festivities. This decision follows the cancellation of previous plans for public parades, as many soldiers remain deployed in disaster-stricken regions including Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan.

October 2026 also includes several other Indonesian national observances, such as Batik National Day on October 2, National Santri Day on October 22, and Youth Pledge Day on October 28. According to the Joint Ministerial Decree, there are no national holidays or collective leave days scheduled for the month outside of weekends.
