Indonesian Navy celebrates 81st anniversary with nationwide ceremonies

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) celebrated its 81st anniversary on September 10, 2026, with various ceremonies and readiness drills held across Indonesia, including in Tegal, Malang, Surabaya, Tahuna, and Timika.

Under the theme “With the Spirit of Jalesveva Jayamahe, the Indonesian Navy is Ready to Realize a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia,” the celebrations emphasized maritime sovereignty and institutional transformation. Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Muhammad Ali, outlined three primary priorities: operational readiness, soldier professionalism, and the strengthening of cross-institutional synergy.

In Timika, officials highlighted the need to address modern challenges such as global geopolitical dynamics, grey zone threats, cyber warfare, and advancements in artificial intelligence and unmanned systems. Discussions also touched upon the modernization of military hardware, including the planned arrival of a new aircraft carrier and the integration of the Integrated Fleet Weapon System (SSAT).

Beyond military readiness, the Navy continues to focus on social programs and environmental conservation through initiatives like “Aku Cinta Laut” (I Love the Sea), which includes beach cleanups, social services, and disaster response capabilities.
