Indonesian Navy rescues 30 ship fire victims off East Java

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) deployed two warships, KRI Nala‑363 and KRI Bung Hatta‑370, along with an NC 212‑200 Avicor aircraft to respond to a fire aboard the passenger vessel KM Mutiara Sentosa II in waters north of Sumenep, East Java on 2 August. After receiving the emergency call at 10:00 WIB, the ships arrived and evacuated 30 survivors while two people were confirmed dead. The rescued passengers were taken to Surabaya for treatment at a crisis centre. KRI Bung Hatta‑370 remained on scene to provide security and monitoring until the search‑and‑rescue operation was declared complete.
