Indonesian officials promote digital literacy and inclusive learning in madrasahs
Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has expressed support for an initiative by the Universitas Teknologi Digital Indonesia (UTDI) to strengthen digital literacy among santri (Islamic boarding school students). The program aims to equip students with future-ready technological competencies, including artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, and digital entrepreneurship.
In a separate effort to improve Islamic education, Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Faculty of Tarbiyah at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta are advocating for more humanist and inclusive learning environments in madrasahs. The initiative focuses on creating safe digital ecosystems and ensuring that educational institutions can adapt to social changes while protecting students and providing accessible, high-quality education.
