Indonesian officials promote inclusive education for students with disabilities

In observance of International Sign Language Day, Indonesian officials have emphasized the importance of inclusive education and digital integration for children with disabilities.

In Gorontalo, Vice Governor Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie called for strengthened support for children with disabilities, specifically regarding communication access and educational opportunities. Speaking at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Gorontalo, she highlighted the necessity of patient educators and inclusive school environments. She also urged parents to seek early screenings for hearing impairments to prevent developmental delays.

Simultaneously, Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq visited SLB Negeri Handayani in Sukabumi to promote digital learning methods. He introduced the use of Digital Interactive Boards (PID), a component of President Prabowo Subianto’s Quick Win Program for learning digitalization. While teachers noted that some digital content requires further adaptation for special needs, the Deputy Minister committed to expanding and improving digital learning resources for these students.
