Indonesian officials use corn harvests to address economic and agricultural needs
Agricultural harvest events in Indonesia are being utilized by government officials to address social and infrastructural needs. In Gunungkidul, the Directorate General of Immigration held a corn harvest in Bulurejo Village as part of a community empowerment initiative. Director General Hendarsam Marantoko stated that the program aims to strengthen food security and prevent human trafficking and smuggling by improving local economic conditions.
In Sukoharjo, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi attended a corn harvest in Karanganyar Village to gather feedback from farmers. Local agricultural workers raised concerns regarding water scarcity, the need for deep wells to support planting seasons, and the requirement for better farm roads and post-harvest facilities for crops like tobacco. The Governor instructed relevant departments to prepare for well construction and plan for farm road improvements in the coming year.
