Indonesian palm oil sector focuses on smallholder partnerships and sustainability
The Indonesian palm oil sector is focusing on strengthening partnerships with smallholder farmers and enhancing sustainable cultivation practices. PTPN IV PalmCo held its inaugural PSR Awards 2026 and Gala Dinner in Yogyakarta to recognize the contributions of farmers, cooperatives, and suppliers within its partnership ecosystem. Company leadership emphasized that smallholders represent approximately 41-42 percent of the national palm oil industry, making their cooperation vital for operational sustainability and national industry strength.
Simultaneously, the 6th Indonesian Palm Oil Smallholder Conference (IPOSC) 2026 serves as an educational forum for farmers, policymakers, and academics. The conference aims to provide information on proper cultivation techniques, agronomy, and climate change adaptation. A key focus of the event is introducing technologies—such as superior seeds and mechanization—designed to increase productivity on existing land without requiring further land expansion.
