Indonesian police seize ecstasy courier tied to Malaysia‑Medan network
The Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police arrested 31‑year‑old Muhammad Hadi, also known as Muham, on 30 July 2026 at the Manhattan Times Square Mall in Medan, North Sumatra. Hadi was identified as a courier for an ecstasy shipment belonging to a trans‑national syndicate operating between Malaysia and Medan.
According to Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, director of the Narcotics Crime Division, Hadi had been promised a payment of 700,000 rupiah for collecting the package but received only 300,000 rupiah after the hand‑over. He said Hadi was recruited by a man named Yuki, whom Hadi had known for about five years. The operation was carried out by Task Force NIC Team 1 together with the Narcotics Sub‑division and the North Sumatra Customs Office, which intercepted Hadi after surveillance of his movements with a black backpack.
The arrest highlights ongoing cooperation between Indonesian law‑enforcement agencies to disrupt cross‑border drug trafficking networks linking Malaysia and Indonesia.
