Indonesian police arrest PT TSI Director for illegal import case

The Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police has arrested Tatang Winata, the Director of PT TSI, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Winata, who had been a fugitive, was apprehended on Tuesday evening after arriving from Seoul, South Korea.

Winata is a suspect in a large-scale illegal importation case involving used mobile phones and baby supplies. The investigation suggests the illegal imports, valued at approximately Rp253 billion, involved goods smuggled from China and South Korea into Indonesia.

Following his arrest and a brief examination at the airport, Winata was transferred to the Bareskrim headquarters for further questioning and has been detained at the Bareskrim detention center. Two other suspects, identified as DCP and MT, are also implicated in the smuggling operation.
