Indonesia authorities dismantle major drug labs and intercept large shipments

Indonesian law enforcement agencies, including the National Police (Polri), the National Narcotics Board (BNN), and Customs, have conducted major operations resulting in the seizure of massive quantities of narcotics.

In Aceh, a large-scale raid on a clandestine laboratory in Pidie uncovered nearly 1.2 tons of methamphetamine, including 20 drums of liquid meth oil and approximately 500 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. Eleven individuals were detained, including two Chinese nationals identified as expert chemists. This operation is described as one of the largest laboratory busts in the country.

In North Sumatra, authorities intercepted the tanker MT Global 168 in the waters of Tanjung Balai Asahan. The vessel was found to be carrying 1.16 tons of ketamine hydrochloride, valued at approximately Rp 3.48 trillion. The ship, which is registered to Makmur Marine Petroleum in Malaysia and flies a Mongolian flag, was suspected of performing ship-to-ship transfers in the Andaman Sea to evade detection by turning off its Automatic Identification System (AIS).

Additional localized operations across Indonesia, including Manado, Pekanbaru, Jakarta, and Palembang, resulted in the arrest of various suspects and the seizure of smaller quantities of methamphetamine.
