In North Sumatra, Kombes Bayu Wicaksono, director of the Cyber Crime Unit of Polda Sumut, announced the seizure of assets and arrest of five suspects linked to an online‑scamming syndicate that defrauded a woman from Kalimantan of roughly Rp 6.7 billion. The operation, conducted in a Medan apartment, uncovered luxury vehicles, phones and laptops, and involved suspects from Pakistan, India and a former operative who had previously operated from Cambodia. Authorities plan coordination with Indian and Cambodian consulates for cross‑border investigations.
