Indonesian law enforcement agencies have launched widespread operations to combat narcotics and illegal drug distribution across the country. On October 9, 2026, Polri, in coordination with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the TNI, and local authorities, conducted simultaneous raids on suspected drug hubs nationwide.

In Makassar, a major operation in the Sapiria Bortak area resulted in the arrest of 104 individuals, 98 of whom tested positive for narcotics, along with the apprehension of three suspected dealers. Similar large-scale enforcement occurred in Balikpapan, where 48 people tested positive during a raid in Gunung Bugis, and in Tarakan, where seven people were detained.

In East Java, Police Chief Irjen Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono has prioritized the eradication of illegal prescription drugs (Daftar G), noting that authorities have seized over 4.7 million such pills between January and September 2026. Other regional successes include the seizure of 105 grams of methamphetamine in Gowa and the arrest of two distributors in Tapanuli Tengah.

In addition to narcotics, student groups have raised concerns regarding the handling of cybercrime fraud (passobis) cases in Sidrap, where three reports involving losses of Rp435 million have reportedly stalled since 2024.
