Indonesia police seize over 5 tonnes of illegal drugs in 2026
Indonesian police conducted a series of drug busts across the country in 2026, seizing more than 5 tonnes of narcotics and arresting hundreds of suspects. In Bogor, authorities seized three kilograms of methamphetamine (sabu) and more than one million illegal pharmaceutical pills, apprehending 95 suspects. In Aceh, a courier was caught with 130 kg of sabu after a police chase. The Karo district police seized small quantities of sabu and cannabis in two locations, while Garut police uncovered 13 drug‑related cases and detained 20 suspects. Tangerang police recovered 8.22 grams of sabu hidden in a bathroom ceiling. In Surabaya, a recent arrest involved nearly 100 grams of sabu and ten ecstasy tablets. The Sumatra Utara regional police reported 3,865 drug cases during the first half of 2026, seizing 5.3 tonnes of narcotics and detaining 4,628 suspects.
