Indonesian police seize methamphetamine in Karanganyar and North Jakarta
Police in Karanganyar, Central Java, detained a man identified as Bayan (initials RS), the head of the Wonokerso hamlet, after finding 0.35 gram of methamphetamine on his person on 7 July 2026. The arrest was confirmed by the local narcotics investigation unit, and the suspect was taken to the Karanganyar police station for further legal proceedings under Indonesia’s narcotics and criminal codes.
In North Jakarta’s Muara Baru area, the Sunda Kelapa police unit arrested a 25‑year‑old laborer known as AS on 8 July 2026. Authorities seized a transparent plastic packet containing 1.60 gram of methamphetamine, a mobile phone and Rupiah 350,000 in cash that represented proceeds from the sale. The suspect was charged under the same narcotics legislation, with a potential prison term of up to 20 years.
