Indonesian Police train ojol drivers as traffic safety agents
Indonesian National Police (Korlantas Polri) is training thousands of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers to serve as traffic safety agents and first responders. During a safety riding event in Tangerang Selatan, approximately 5,350 drivers from the Jabodetabek area received education on traffic discipline and Emergency First Aid (PPGD).
In Mojokerto, local police also conducted similar training in collaboration with the Health Office and Jasa Raharja. The initiative aims to reduce accident fatalities caused by incorrect initial medical handling and to encourage drivers to act as witnesses and partners for law enforcement.
While social media rumors suggested the large-scale gathering was a tactic to divert protesters from the DPR building, the Association of Nusantara Ojol (Asosiasi Ojol Nusantara) clarified that the event was part of a long-planned series of activities celebrating the Korlantas Polri anniversary, scheduled over two months in advance.
