Indonesian police urge parents to supervise children against social and digital risks

Regional police departments in South Sulawesi and Lampung are urging parents to increase supervision of their children to prevent involvement in various social and legal risks.

In South Sulawesi, Police Spokesperson Kombes Pol Didik Supranoto advised parents to ensure children do not participate in public demonstrations that have the potential to turn into riots. He emphasized that while expressing opinions is a protected right, children need guidance to avoid dangerous situations that could jeopardize their futures.

Similarly, in Lampung, Police Spokesperson Kombes Pol Yuni Isawandari Yuyun highlighted a broader range of risks, including drug abuse, free sex, illegal online loans (pinjol), and invitations to participate in civil unrest. She noted that supervision must extend to the digital realm, as social media can expose youth to harmful influences and financial risks they may not yet understand.
