Indonesian Police vow no impunity for officers in drug case

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) announced that no police personnel will receive special treatment after the arrest of several officers suspected of involvement in drug trafficking. The operation led to the detention of AKP Pardiman, head of the Narcotics Unit of the Tangerang Selatan Police, and several other members, as part of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Directorate’s Narcotics Division.

Police Public Relations Division chief Irjen Pol. Johnny Eddizon Isir said the institution will handle both criminal and ethical proceedings transparently and without bias. Criminal investigations remain with the Dittipidnarkoba unit of the Bareskrim, while internal ethical violations will be examined by the Professional and Security Division of the Metro Jakarta Regional Police. The statement emphasized stricter inspection standards to protect the police’s reputation.
