Indonesian poultry prices show recovery amid fluctuating food costs

The price of Day Old Chicken (DOC) in Indonesia rose 3.9% month-on-month in September 2026 to Rp 7,559 per head, reaching its highest level since July 2023. While broiler chicken prices saw a slight correction of 3.2% to Rp 23,580 per kilogram, the overall recovery in poultry prices is expected to benefit major poultry companies such as PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk, PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, Malindo Feedmill Tbk, and PT Widodo Makmur Unggas Tbk.

Profit margins for these companies will depend on the balance between selling prices and production costs, particularly the price of corn, which averaged Rp 6,584 per kilogram in the third quarter of 2026.

According to data from the National Food Strategic Price Information Center (PIHPS), other essential food commodities also show varied pricing. Recent retail prices include red bird's eye chili at Rp 105,750 per kg, chicken eggs at Rp 28,550 per kg, and fresh broiler meat at Rp 39,550 per kg. Beef prices were recorded between Rp 145,250 and Rp 152,900 per kg.
