Indonesian President’s Envoy Raffi Ahmad Denies Customs Corruption Links

Raffi Ahmad, Indonesia’s special presidential envoy for youth and creative workers, held a press conference on 11 June 2026 to refute claims that his name was involved in a customs corruption investigation. He explained that he met representatives of Blueray Cargo while in the United States for a 2023 marathon in Chicago and later visited the firm’s New York office, where staff offered to ship electronic goods to Indonesia. Ahmad said he declined the offer, had no further communication, no phone numbers, and never conducted any transactions with the company.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that Ahmad’s name appeared in its probe of alleged graft in the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, but it stated that no conclusive evidence had been found linking him to illicit activity. The envoy emphasized that, given his current presidential assignment, he needed to clarify the matter and protect his integrity.
