Indonesian Red Cross promotes healthy living in Ende

The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has conducted health promotion activities in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, focusing on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). In one initiative at SLB Negeri Ende, educators used interactive methods such as singing, games, and handwashing practices to teach hygiene to 28 students with disabilities.

School officials noted that special assistance is required for these students to master daily hygiene routines, as many require guidance to move beyond basic needs like eating and studying. These life skills are considered essential for their independence, especially for those living in local residential foundations.

In a separate response to earthquake impacts in the region, PMI personnel provided health education and psychosocial support (PSS) to 81 beneficiaries, primarily children aged 5 to 17. The services included instruction on preventing diarrhea through proper handwashing and using games to provide emotional support to those affected by the disaster.
