Indonesian regional authorities launch mobile tax services
Regional tax authorities in Indonesia are launching mobile and community-based initiatives to increase tax compliance and accessibility.
In Rembang, the Regional Revenue Management Unit (UPPD) has introduced the ‘Samsat at School’ program. Launched at SMA Negeri 2 Rembang, the initiative aims to bring vehicle tax services directly to educational environments. The program targets students, teachers, and parents, allowing parents to facilitate tax payments through their children. Key components include establishing payment points at schools, conducting vehicle data collection, and providing regular tax education.
In Batam, the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) has implemented the ‘SiBijak Ngemall’ program, which brings tax services to shopping centers every weekend. Available at locations such as Grand Batam Mall and BCS Mall, the service includes tax payments, data updates, new taxpayer registration, and consultations. The program utilizes mobile bus offices and encourages non-cash transactions via QRIS. Bapenda Batam has also collaborated with the provincial government to include vehicle tax services within this mobile framework.
