Indonesian regional governments advance digital transformation and cybersecurity

Regional governments in Indonesia are advancing digital transformation and cybersecurity initiatives. In Riau Islands, the Communications and Informatics Department (Diskominfo Kepri) has partnered with the Association of Provincial Communications and Informatics Departments (Askompsi) to strengthen digital resilience. The collaboration focuses on utilizing artificial intelligence and protecting government data. Danang Sanjaya from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) confirmed that all regencies and cities in the province have established Cyber Incident Response Teams (TTIS) to streamline coordination with BSSN during cyberattacks.

In West Sulawesi, the provincial government is working to improve its digital governance indices. The DiskominfoSS is monitoring seven key indices, including digital government, public information disclosure, and cybersecurity maturity. The province is currently navigating a transition from Electronic-Based Government Systems (SPBE) to a Digital Government (Pemdi) framework, which has shifted 20 assessment indicators. Efforts are being made to address challenges such as human resource limitations in statistics and the need for better inter-organizational collaboration to meet 2026 targets.
