Indonesian regional governments and banks collaborate on digital financial initiatives

Local governments in Indonesia are partnering with banking institutions to enhance regional revenue and support small businesses through digitalization and specialized credit programs.

In Batam, PT Bank Riau Kepri Syariah (BRK Syariah), the Batam City Government, and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) held a workshop to assist Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The initiative focuses on providing access to capital through 0 percent margin subsidy programs and professional management training to help local businesses scale.

In Padang, the City Government is exploring a partnership with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to digitalize tax and retribution payments. The collaboration aims to optimize regional original income (PAD) across sectors such as parking, waste management, and culinary services, while increasing financial transparency.

In Kampar, BRK Syariah and the Kampar Regency Government are discussing the integration of QRIS real-time split payments for regional taxes. This system is intended to automate the distribution of tax components directly to government accounts, facilitating faster and more transparent transactions.
