Serang and Padang report shifts in regional revenue trends

Several Indonesian cities are reporting significant trends in their Regional Original Income (PAD) as they work toward fiscal independence.

In Serang, the local government reported a steady growth in PAD. Revenue rose from Rp289.86 billion in 2024 to Rp399.91 billion in 2025, representing a 37.97 percent increase. For the 2026 fiscal year, the city has set an ambitious target of Rp553.24 billion, a projected increase of 90.87 percent compared to the 2024 baseline.

In Padang, the local government is pursuing a target of Rp1.04 trillion for the 2026 amended budget. As of September 7, 2026, the city has realized Rp628.586 billion, which accounts for approximately 64.43 percent of the total target. Officials are currently working to bridge a remaining gap of roughly Rp128.646 billion to meet the third-quarter goal.
