Indonesia's Idul Adha celebrations promote social solidarity

Across Indonesia, the 1447 Hijri Idul Adha (Eid al‑Adha) was marked by a series of public prayers, charitable meat distributions and community gatherings emphasizing solidarity and social care.

Speaker of the House Puan Maharani led the prayer at Jakarta’s Baiturrahman Mosque, urging the nation to use the festival as a "momentum for sacrifice, weaving togetherness and care for others". She donated a one‑ton Limousin cow for distribution to DPR staff and nearby residents. Similar messages were echoed by regional leaders: Bupati Suhardiman Amby of Kuantan Singingi highlighted the distribution of 3,880 sacrificial animals and linked the event to upcoming provincial Qur’an recitation competitions; Governor Dr H. Zainal A. Paliwang of North Kalimantan opened the governor’s office grounds for an open‑house celebration to foster silaturahmi; and Balangan regent Abdul Hadi hosted an open‑house attended by thousands and legislator Supianor, stressing communal bonds.

Corporate social responsibility also featured, with GEM’s subsidiary PT QMB New Energy Materials delivering four sacrificial cows to residents and employees in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, under a structured voucher system. The combined religious observances and charitable actions illustrate a coordinated national effort to translate the festival’s spiritual themes into tangible social support.
