Indonesian regions implement digital population data integration
Regional governments in Indonesia are implementing new digital systems to improve the accuracy of population data and streamline public services.
In Tanjungpinang Barat, the SIMPATI (Integrated Death Administration Service Information System) has been launched to address inaccuracies in population records caused by delayed death reporting. The system allows village officials to record deaths in a digital register, providing real-time monitoring for the local civil registry office. The service offers both manual assistance, where officials handle physical documents, and electronic options via the Digital Population Identity (IKD) application.
In Aceh Barat, the Communications, Informatics, and Sanctions Office (Diskominsa) has partnered with the Civil Registry Office (Disdukcapil) to integrate population databases with local government services. This integration allows for the verification of public information applicants using National Identification Numbers (NIK), family card numbers, and other personal details. The initiative aims to ensure data accuracy for public information officers and will eventually support the ‘Lapor Bupati’ service to better verify citizen reports.
