Indonesian state companies collaborate on renewable energy and electric vehicle infrastructure

Indonesian state-owned enterprises are advancing renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects. PLN's Research and Development center is collaborating with the PLN Institute of Technology (ITPLN) to develop new technologies, including ocean current power plants, green hydrogen, and virtual power plants. A key project involves a floating ocean current power plant, with structural design and construction involving ITS, PT PAL Indonesia, and BRIN. Testing for this technology is targeted for the Lombok Strait within the next two years.

Simultaneously, Pertamina Patra Niaga, PT Len Industri, and PLN have partnered to support the National Electric Motorcycle Program. This collaboration focuses on building a reliable ecosystem for two-wheeled electric vehicles through charging and battery swapping stations. Pertamina has already converted 837 gas stations into Green Energy Stations, which currently include 112 EV charging units and 122 battery swapping stations to facilitate the national energy transition.
