Indonesian state enterprises implement green energy transitions

Indonesian state-owned enterprises are implementing various initiatives to support energy transition and operational sustainability.

At the Tidore Steam Power Plant (PLTU Tidore), PLN is utilizing biomass co-firing to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. As of June 2026, biomass supply reached 292 tons, approximately 29.2 percent of the 1,000-ton annual target. The program utilizes local resources, such as kaliandra trees, to provide supplementary fuel for the 12.6 MW net capacity plant, which supports the Ternate–Tidore electricity system.

In Bengkulu, Pelindo Regional 2 is transitioning its Gantry Luffing Crane (GLC) operations from diesel to electricity. This shift is part of a Green Port initiative aimed at reducing emissions and improving budget efficiency. The transition allows for cleaner energy use during container ship loading and unloading activities while optimizing operational costs.
