Indonesian Survey Founder Hensa to Quit Analyst Role, Turn Political Comedian

Hensa, co‑founder of the survey institute Kedai Kopi Hendri Satrio, announced on X that he will retire from his position as a political analyst and become a political comedian. The move is a response to President Prabowo Subianto’s recent speech in which he warned of "londo ireng" – a term he used to describe individuals or groups perceived as serving foreign interests, naming journalists, analysts and NGOs.

Hensa said the label threatens critical voices and suggested that by presenting his commentary as comedy, he can continue to scrutinise the government without being accused of foreign alignment. He emphasized that his intention is not to attack the president but to highlight the importance of independent observation and critique in Indonesia’s political landscape.
