Indonesian universities test anime media and study digital fatigue

A study at Universitas Islam Negeri Ar‑Raniry in Banda Aceh applied the anime series "Cells at Work" as a teaching medium combined with the Jigsaw learning model for high‑school immunology. Using a quasi‑experimental design with an experimental class (XI‑1) and a control class (XI‑2), post‑test scores averaged 90.74 for the experimental group versus 85.59 for the control group, a statistically significant improvement.

A separate descriptive qualitative study at Universitas Negeri Jakarta examined digital fatigue among Social Studies Education students. Researchers identified physical symptoms (eye strain, sleep disturbances), cognitive issues (reduced concentration, information overload), emotional effects (boredom, academic anxiety), and social impacts (weakened interaction). Coping strategies were split between problem‑focused approaches (planful problem solving, confrontive coping, seeking social support) and emotion‑focused tactics (distancing, self‑control, positive reappraisal). Both projects highlight challenges and innovative solutions in Indonesian higher‑education teaching and learning.
