Indonesian university student teams qualify for national awards

Two Indonesian university student teams have qualified for prestigious national competitions in 2026.

The UKM KPI team from Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) has secured its third consecutive qualification for the Anugerah Abdidaya Ormawa. Their current project, Mannennungeng, focuses on smart and sustainable agriculture in Bone Regency. The program utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) for precision irrigation, agricultural waste processing, eco-friendly pest control, and adaptive planting patterns. Implementation of these methods has reportedly increased rice productivity from 3 tons to 5.3 tons per hectare.

Meanwhile, a team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMMA) has qualified for the 39th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS). Their project, PEDATI, focuses on inclusive dance learning to improve the self-efficacy of children with special needs. The program uses dance as a medium for emotional expression and social interaction, involving collaboration between schools, teachers, parents, and the community.
