Indonesian University Theses on Library Science and Arabic Learning for Blind Students Published in Repositories
A thesis by Muhammad Gunawan from the Library Science program at Universitas Islam Negeri Ar‑Raniry Banda Aceh examined citation patterns in 84 student theses from 2022‑2025. Among 3,260 citations, books were the most frequently cited source (43.3%), followed by journals (40.1%). The analysis found a literature half‑life of about seven years, with 54.6% of references classified as current and 45.4% as outdated.
Another thesis by Tion Iswanto at Universitas Negeri Jakarta investigated barriers faced by blind students learning Arabic in the Islamic Education department. Using qualitative interviews with five visually impaired students, the study identified challenges across listening, reading, speaking and writing skills, including limited access to Arabic Braille, inadequate screen‑reader technology, and reliance on memorisation. Proposed solutions include peer assistance, Braille and digital media, audio repetitions, and adaptive teaching methods.
