Indonesia's 81st Independence Day Celebrations Feature Demak Sports Events and Semarang Cataract Surgery Aid

To mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, the Demak Regency government organized a series of community sports competitions, including gymnastics, table‑tennis, relay races and a wheel‑race relay. The events were scheduled for 11–12 August 2026 and targeted government agencies, military, police, state‑owned enterprises and local clubs, aiming to foster unity and sportmanship.

Separately, the Yayasan Baitul Maal (YBM) of PLN UP3 Semarang provided free cataract‑surgery assistance to ten low‑income residents. The operations were carried out in partnership with RSI Sultan Agung Semarang’s eye centre, funded by charitable contributions from PLN staff. Both initiatives used the national holiday as a platform to deliver community‑focused services and promote social solidarity.
