Indonesia's AAJI endorses new health insurance regulation POJK 36/2025

The Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) said the Financial Services Authority's Regulation No. 36 of 2025 (POJK 36/2025) will strengthen the national health‑insurance ecosystem. AAJI chairman Albertus Wiroyo highlighted the need for a more transparent and sustainable system amid rising medical costs, inflation and increased use of health services.

The rule expands oversight beyond insurers to include the Ministry of Health, health facilities, BPJS Kesehatan and professional health associations. It introduces a 5 % co‑payment cap of Rp300,000 for outpatient and Rp3 million for inpatient claims, and replaces per‑event deductibles with an annual deductible calculated once per year. AAJI expects these measures to promote responsible use of services while keeping insurance products affordable and viable.
