Indonesia's Agriculture Ministry earmarks billions for irrigation projects and flood‑damage recovery

The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) of Indonesia has allocated Rp7.8 billion from the 2026 state budget to improve irrigation infrastructure in Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province. The funding supports three programs: pump‑driven irrigation (Rp4.5 billion for 30 farmer groups), pipe irrigation (Rp1.4 billion for 15 groups) and the construction of embankments and dams (Rp1.9 billion for 16 groups), involving a total of 61 farmer groups.

In a separate allocation, Kementan earmarked Rp2.5 trillion to restore rice fields and plantations in Aceh that were damaged by the 2025 hydrometeorological disaster. The funds will be used for land rehabilitation, agricultural tools, and seeds for rice and corn. The disaster had affected about 57,485 ha of rice fields and 60,438 ha of plantations, with recovery work already underway on roughly 40,852 ha of rice land and 40,418 ha of plantation area. Governor Muzakir Manaf praised the support and urged swift use of the resources to aid affected farmers and growers.
