Indonesia's BKKBN pushes father involvement, assesses stunting plan
The Ministry of Population and Family (Kemendukbangga) and its family planning agency BKKBN said that children with actively involved fathers show better social‑emotional competence and higher academic achievement. Secretary Budi Setiyono cited a meta‑analysis of 66 studies involving more than 154,000 children, noting that "children who receive support and involvement from their fathers tend to achieve better learning results than those who do not." The remarks were made on the occasion of National Family Day.
On 24 June 2026, Minister of Population and Family Wihaji and Deputy Minister Isyana Bagoes Oka briefed the DPR Commission IX on the evaluation of the accelerated stunting‑reduction programme. The discussion covered the effectiveness of Family Companion Teams (TPK) and family‑planning counsellors, data synchronization, and implementation of interventions for families at risk of stunting.
Both statements underline the government’s focus on strengthening parental involvement and improving child health outcomes across Indonesia.
