Bank Tabungan Negara Posts 40.8% Profit Surge and Prepares SAL Fund Return

Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) reported a net profit of Rp2.40 trillion for the first half of 2026, a 40.8 % increase from the same period a year earlier. The bank also improved asset quality, with the non‑performing loan ratio dropping to 2.99 %, the first time it fell below the 3 % threshold.

BTN’s credit portfolio grew 11.2 % to Rp418.11 trillion, driven by housing loans of Rp332.88 trillion and non‑housing credit of Rp85.22 trillion. The bank is managing a Saldo Anggaran Lebih (SAL) fund of Rp38 trillion and has indicated it will begin returning the funds to the government in scheduled installments, with a first repayment expected in September 2026.

In addition, BTN announced an extraordinary shareholders meeting on 4 September 2026 to consider changes to its board of directors, reflecting ongoing governance adjustments.
