India advances eight boxers to finals at Asian U‑19/U‑23 Championships in Jakarta
India’s boxing team had a strong showing at the Asian Under‑19 and Under‑23 Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. Eight Indian fighters reached the finals in the U‑23 categories – five women (including Nisha, Nikita Chand, Kajal, Muskan and Priyanka) and three men (Vishvanath Suresh, Ganga and Vanshaj). The squad also secured seven bronze medals after semifinal appearances across both gender divisions.
In the Under‑19 men’s division, six Indian boxers reached the semifinals, guaranteeing six medals for the country. The performances underline India’s growing depth in Asian boxing, with coaches noting that the athletes have exceeded expectations and are gaining valuable international experience.
The tournament runs from 5 July to 16 July at the Basket Hall GBK in Jakarta, and the Indian team’s results position it as a strong contender for the upcoming finals.
