Indonesia's BPBD supplies water to drought‑hit Lampung and Klaten

Severe drought in Bandar Lampung left wells dry, prompting the local disaster agency (BPBD) to deliver 20,000 liters of clean water using four tanker trucks. The aid reached 240 households (about 950 people) in the Pidada neighbourhood, according to BPBD head Idham Basyar Syahputra, who said the operation was a rapid response and that the agency will continue monitoring the situation.

In Central Java’s Klaten regency, the Merapi slope area suffered water shortages for 3,467 households (roughly 11,455 residents) across four villages. BPBD Klaten has distributed 384 water tankers, totaling 1.92 million liters, since mid‑June under a program approved by Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo. Kabid Anjung Darojati noted the effort is funded with Rp500 million from the 2026 regional budget and aims to meet basic needs while encouraging efficient water use.
