Indonesia's BPJS Health Boosts Patient Service with Biometric ID at Denpasar Hospital
The BPJS Kesehatan program has introduced biometric verification at RSUP Prof. Ngoerah in Denpasar, Bali, to speed up patient identity checks and reduce waiting times. The system works alongside the Mobile JKN online queue, allowing patients to register and be verified quickly upon arrival.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar inspected the hospital and stressed that BPJS services must be provided without discrimination, especially for participants receiving government‑subsidised premiums (PBI). He highlighted that cross‑subsidisation enables costly treatments such as hemodialysis to be affordable for low‑income patients, citing a monthly cost of roughly IDR 9.6 million covered by the scheme. A 71‑year‑old patient praised the smoother administration and professional care.
