Indonesia's ceramic industry shifts to safety‑focused anti‑slip tiles
Consumer preferences in Indonesia are moving away from purely aesthetic considerations toward safety, especially for flooring in wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, terraces and pool surrounds. Marketing Director Jali Wijaya of PT Platinum Ceramics Industry says the company is responding by producing anti‑slip ceramic tiles that meet the R12 standard, which offers higher grip than ordinary tiles.
The trend reflects growing awareness of household slip hazards among families, prompting manufacturers to prioritize functional safety features while maintaining design appeal. Industry analysts expect the demand for higher‑grip ceramics to continue rising as Indonesian households seek materials that protect children, the elderly and all occupants.
PT Platinum Ceramics plans to expand its "Platinum Super Stop" line to address this market shift, signalling a broader move within the domestic ceramic sector toward products that combine aesthetics with enhanced safety.
